Ingredients:
- 1 package firm tofu
- 5 tbsp almond meal
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 2 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 cups wheat gluten
Special Equipment:
- Steamer
- Parchment paper
Directions:
- Crumble 1 package of firm tofu into a food processor
- Add the almond meal, chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, soy sauce, and cornstarch
- Process until you have a smooth mixture
- Transfer the mixture to a large bowl
- Add the wheat gluten and mix well
- Knead the mixture
- Break off a piece of the mixture and roll it into a hot dog shape
- Put the hot dog onto a sheet of parchment paper and roll it up
- Put the parchment-wrapped hot dog onto a sheet of aluminum foil and roll it up
- Twist the ends of the foil together like a tootsie roll
- Steam the hot dogs in a steamer for 45 minutes
- Remove from the steamer and completely unwrap the hot dogs
- Grill the hot dogs or alternatively, fry the hot dogs in some vegetable oil
- Serve on a hot dog bun with your favorite condiments
