Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon active-dry yeast
- 1 cup lukewarm water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Cornmeal for dusting
Special equipment:
- Stand mixer
Directions:
- Add active-dry yeast to water in a bowl
- Mix well
- Add sugar and mix well
- Set aside the yeast mixture for a few minutes
- Add the flour and salt to a mixing bowl
- Add the yeast mixture
- Add the olive oil
- Mix well
- Knead the dough for 8 minutes
- Roll the dough into a ball and put into a well-oiled bowl
- Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and set aside for 30 minutes
- Punch the dough down
- Knead the dough for a few minutes and divide in half
- Make each half into a round shape
- Cover a baking tray with some parchment paper
- Dust the bottom of each dough with some cornmeal
- Set the tray aside and allow dough to rise for 30 minutes
- Bake the dough at 400 degrees for 20 minutes
- Let cool on a rack
- Carefully cut out an opening with a knife
- Serve with your favorite soup
